Lexington County Fire Departments Honored for Fire Safety Efforts

Lexington County fire departments are a part of Fire Safe South Carolina

Lexington County Fire Service, Cayce Fire Department, Irmo Fire District, and West Columbia Fire Department have been honored with the Fire Safe South Carolina 2023 Community Designation. This recognition was bestowed by Fire Safe South Carolina and its partners, marking a significant achievement for the fire departments in the region.

The four fire departments in Lexington County have demonstrated their commitment to fire safety and injury prevention, which has led to a decreased risk of fires and related injuries in South Carolina. By promoting consistent fire safety messages and collecting quality data from fire scenes, these departments have shown their dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and firefighters.

Chief Josh Fulbright expressed enthusiasm for obtaining this designation and highlighted the growing interest among departments to prioritize fire safety. Through various training programs, community outreach efforts, and educational initiatives, the fire departments have made significant strides in educating citizens on fire and life safety topics.

The formal recognition of the designated communities is set to take place in June at the Fire-Rescue Conference in Myrtle Beach. This event will honor the accomplishments of the fire departments and their community partners in promoting fire safety. Moving forward, the focus will remain on educating more people and implementing proactive risk reduction practices to enhance fire prevention efforts in South Carolina.
