Lexington County Residents Share Their Thoughts on Community Improvement

This initiative is all about getting the opinions of local folks when it comes to public services and how their tax dollars should be spent.
Roads, Roads, and More Roads!
As News 19 wandered through the delightful neighborhoods of Lexington, it was clear that many residents share the same priority: they want to see significant improvements to the roads. One resident, Vivian Pate, voiced her concerns about the deteriorating conditions of the streets. “The roads are not the greatest, especially on Hermitage Road. There are potholes everywhere!” she exclaimed. Vivian, along with many others, believes that better roads are crucial for the community’s growth and safety.
But that’s not all; Vivian also highlighted the need for improved animal services, suggesting that a larger facility would help accommodate more animals in need. “There should be more effort to help them out,” she added, echoing the sentiments of many animal lovers in the area.
The Silver Lining: Positive Feedback
Not everyone has complaints, though! Some residents like Marcie Leaphart believe Lexington County is on the right track. She mentioned, “I think Lexington County’s doing a pretty good job.” However, there seems to be a consensus among residents that the focus should lean towards enhancing road conditions to match the influx of new residents. “The whole state of South Carolina has done a pretty good job investing in their infrastructure,” said local resident Travis Cooper. “I would like to see a continuation of that, especially with the population growth.”
Young Voices Matter!
And it’s not just adults having their say! Kids are getting involved too! Young taxpayer Landon Laskis enthusiastically expressed his desire for “better roads and ambulances,” highlighting how even the youngest citizens are thinking about their community’s future.
