LEXINGTON, S.C. – A remarkable achievement by a Lexington County senior has garnered national attention as Zdenek Rusek Kotva, a standout student at River Bluff High School, has been awarded a $40,000 scholarship from Amazon and a coveted internship opportunity at the tech giant.
Zdenek Rusek Kotva, known for his brilliance and dedication to computer science, has been named one of the 400 recipients of the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship, a prestigious award that recognizes talented students in the field of technology and engineering.
Described by his teacher Sarah Tooler as a “brilliant student who demonstrates a passion and natural talent for coding,” Kotva has excelled in his academic pursuits and demonstrated leadership qualities that set him apart.
The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship aims to promote diversity in the engineering workforce by supporting students from historically underserved communities. Kotva will receive $40,000 distributed over four years to assist him in pursuing a degree in computer science or engineering.
As part of the scholarship program, Kotva will have the unique opportunity to intern at Amazon after his freshman year of college. This paid internship will provide him with valuable hands-on experience at one of the world’s most innovative companies, giving him a head start in his career.
