LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (HERE NEWS) — Lexington Deputies are seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation of a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.
According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, Deputies responded to a shots fired call at Amici Tavern at 3:20 am. The Deputies spent hours on the scene, interviewing witnesses and reviewing security camera footage from a nearby business.
Sheriff Koon stated, “We’re on this investigation at the request of the Swansea Police Department, and we don’t have much to go on at this point. We would like to hear from anyone who was at the bar on the night of the incident or anyone who may have information about the shooting.”
Eyewitnesses reported that two men were involved in an altercation inside the bar before moving outside. Subsequently, the suspect shot the victim before fleeing the scene in an unidentified vehicle.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Rodney James Jr. His friends assisted in transporting him a short distance before being met by emergency medical services.
