Lexington High School on high alert due to potential safety threat
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – Officials with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are currently responding to a call of a “potential safety threat” at Lexington High School on April 18.

Deputies are at Lexington High School after a potential safety threat was reported, according to the department’s Facebook page. Despite the report, law enforcement officials have not found any credible threat at this time.
As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and faculty, extra deputies have been deployed to the campus to assist with the investigation. The sheriff’s department is in constant communication with Lexington County School District One administration to coordinate efforts.

HERE NEWS obtained an email sent to employees and parents of Lexington High and Technology Center, notifying them of the situation. The email emphasized the implementation of a “Secure” safety precaution while officials respond to a message received by a school employee. The nature of the threat appears to be similar to one received prior to Spring Break.
The school and district officials are collaborating closely with law enforcement to assess the situation and take necessary safety measures. Updates regarding any changes to dismissal procedures will be communicated to the school community in a timely manner.
