The chase started when a driver evaded a traffic stop, leading officers into a wild chase through downtown. Emergency services responded quickly, and although one lane remained blocked, no injuries were reported. Two suspects were arrested following the incident, with serious charges facing both. Local authorities continue to investigate the situation.
Lexington, SC – It’s not every day that something like this goes down in our quiet community, but recently, the Lexington Police Department found themselves in the thick of a wild chase that ended in a dramatic multi-vehicle collision. While the day seemed like any other, the excitement rapidly escalated on North Lake Drive, where routine turned into chaos!
According to reports, one lane of North Lake Drive near Andrew Corley Road is currently blocked following the incident, and emergency personnel were quick to rush to the scene to ensure everyone was safe and sound. Local drivers have been advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating that area, as things may still be a bit hectic following the collision.
The entire escapade kicked off when a driver in a vehicle decided to play cat and mouse with the police, evading a traffic stop. But instead of pulling over like they should have, the driver took off! The car sped into a nearby Kroger parking lot and began driving in circles, seemingly in an attempt to throw off the pursuing officers. It’s like something straight out of a movie!
However, the excitement didn’t stop there. The driver veered back onto the bustling Lake Murray Boulevard, continuing the chase that had everyone in stitches with disbelief. The wild ride came to a screeching halt when the vehicle made a right turn onto Old Cherokee Road and collided with another car. Talk about a dramatic ending!
Law enforcement jumped into action. Joshua D. Riley, a 45-year-old man from Orangeburg, SC, was arrested immediately at the scene. Meanwhile, his companion, 39-year-old Damion A. Bowers from Columbia, SC, attempted to flee the area. But, don’t worry! The Lexington Police Department was on it and apprehended Bowers shortly thereafter, ensuring he couldn’t get too far.
Both men are now facing some serious charges. Riley is looking at multiple counts, including expired temporary tag, reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights (2nd offense), and a slew of others that have him in quite a predicament. Bowers, on the other hand, is charged with interfering/resisting, and he also has a not-so-flattering record, being wanted by the South Carolina Probation Pardon and Parole as well as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
In all the excitement, it’s a relief to report that no injuries were recorded as a result of this crazy collision. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident to determine exactly what went wrong and how everything unfolded. With multiple agencies working together, local residents can feel confident that they are doing their best to keep the community safe.
As this story continues to develop, many in Lexington are left shaking their heads and chuckling over the wild series of events that turned a normal day into a high-octane drama. It’s a reminder for everyone that sometimes, the unexpected can happen around any corner.
So, if you’re cruising down North Lake Drive, stay alert and be sure to keep an eye out for any surprises—though hopefully, they’ll be less thrilling than this chase!
