Lexington Police Seek Public Help in Retail Theft Case

Lexington, SC – The friendly folks at the Lexington Police Department are on a mission! They’re actively combating retail shoplifting right here in our vibrant community, and guess what? They’re asking for our help! It’s a great reminder that we can all pitch in and support our local law enforcement in keeping our neighborhoods safe.

Shoplifting Alert

On August 10, 2024, there was an incident at Lowe’s Home Improvement, located on Sunset Boulevard. The police are looking for a tall, well-built, black male who allegedly walked out with around $200 worth of merchandise. This kind of theft impacts our local businesses, so it’s important we band together to help out.

Detective’s Description

Detective Januchowski is leading the charge on this case and is doing his best, but he needs some eyes and ears in the community. The suspect is described as wearing faded blue jeans and a t-shirt. He has medium-length hair, a beard, and an eye-catching earring in his left earlobe. To top it off, he was sporting some comfortable sports shoes.

It’s worth noting that people tend to gravitate towards wearing similar clothes, so while he may have a whole closet full of outfits at home, it’s pretty likely you might see him in something similar around town. Keeping your eyes peeled for your everyday neighbors, especially if they fit this description, could help the case dramatically!

Technology Helping Out

Thanks to modern technology, Lowe’s has high-resolution cameras that provide an excellent look at the suspect. This can really make a difference in catching the alleged shoplifter. Let’s face it, it’s much easier to identify someone with clear, detailed images rather than grainy, unclear ones.

How You Can Help

If you think you might know who this person is, or if you saw something unusual around that time, don’t hesitate! You can directly contact Detective Januchowski at 803-951-4642 or shoot him an email at ajanuchowski@lexsc.gov. Remember, your tip can remain anonymous!

You can also call in any tips to Midlands Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. By doing so, you could even be eligible for a cash reward! What a great way to be involved in your community while also being potentially rewarded for your efforts!

Community Matters

It’s really heartwarming to see the Lexington Police working so closely with community members on important issues like this. Whether you’re in Springdale, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, or any of the surrounding areas like Boiling Springs, Fairview, or even Lake Murray, being a part of this effort helps to foster a safe and caring environment for us all.

So, as you go about your day, keep an eye out! You never know when a small detail may become the breakthrough needed for the police to solve this crime. It’s all about the power of community working together!

Let’s keep Lexington a safe and wonderful place to live and work!
