Lexington Police Alerts Travelers on Upcoming Signal Lights Maintenance

On Tuesday, the Lexington Police Department issued a notice to all motorists planning to traverse the intersections of Columbia Avenue/US-378 at West Main Street/US-1, alerting them to upcoming essential maintenance on traffic signal lights.

The planned maintenance, to be carried out by Dominion Energy, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During this hour-long period, the traffic signal lights at the mentioned intersections will not be functional, causing possible disruption in the traffic flow.

Alternate Traffic Management in Place

The police department assured commuters that measures are in place to handle the traffic during the period. Officers will be positioned at the specified intersections to manually direct traffic and ensure the smooth flow of vehicles.

However, the department urges all motorists passing through the area during this period to exercise heightened caution. They have been asked to remain extra vigilant and patient as the officers manage the traffic manually.

Possible Route Diversion

While operations will be carried out to manage traffic and minimize disruptions, travelers are asked to consider alternate routes wherever possible to avoid the area during the specified time. This move aims to ease any potential congestion and prevent major traffic snarls during the hour of traffic light downtime.

Expectation on Road Safety

The police department emphatically stated that the safety of both road users and the officers on the field was paramount. Motorists are further reminded to adhere strictly to road regulations and instructions given by the officers to prevent accidents from occurring. The officers’ role in managing the traffic manually is a responsive measure and calls for cooperation from all road users.

Last Note

The department appreciates road users’ understanding as Dominion Energy undertakes the maintenance of the signal lights. The upgrade and routine checks are essential to ensuring traffic experienced in the area is regulated effectively. All are urged to factor this event into their travel plans and schedules for the day.

Regular updates concerning the ongoing maintenance will be communicated correspondingly. Motorists are encouraged to remain updated for any changes in the timing or additional information.
