A 63-year-old man and a 17-year-old motorcyclist tragically fell to their deaths in a road accident that transpired around 10 p.m., Tuesday. The incident happened when the elderly citizen, identified as Kevin Scott Collins, was crossing the road after checking his mailbox, located at the 200 block of the same road.

Details of the Individuals Involved

The motorcyclist involved was identified as James Leonard Ely III, also from Lexington. Mr. Ely, who was heading west on Kyzer Road on his motorbike, was accompanied by a passenger at the time of the mishap. The passenger fortunately survived the crash with minor injuries and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. It was confirmed that Ely was in compliance with safety regulations, wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Aftermath of the Accident

Both Collins and Ely were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. The South Carolina Highway Patrol has taken up the responsibility of investigating the causes and circumstances of the accident.
