Lexington SC —— a much-awaited moment is on the horizon. Lexington Sporting Club’s maiden home match in the USL Super League is only weeks away. The curtain-raiser, which will be against Tampa Bay Sun FC, is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. in the newly built Lexington SC Stadium.
USL Super League represents the zenith of U.S. Soccer’s Division One standards. It outlines a clear pathway for players to hone their skills and compete with the best talents in the sport.
Kim Shelton, CEO of the Lexington Sporting Club, encapsulated the significance of the upcoming match stating, “This is a thrilling moment for our community and for women’s sports as a whole. We can’t wait to see fans flood the stadium and root for our team as they embark on this unforgettable journey. The inaugural match is only the ascension to what promises to be a glorious future for women’s soccer in Lexington.”

Head coach of the Super League team, Mike Dickey, expressed his anticipation for the debut season. “Our team has been dedicating themselves non-stop to prepare for this season and we can’t wait to showcase their prowess and persistence on the field,” Dickey said. “We call out to everyone to join us on Sept. 8, where we witness history unfold and cheer our players as they compete at the highest echelon.”
While construction of the state-of-the-art stadium draws to a close, Lexington SC stated that the development of the performance center and training fields is also well underway. The club also competes in USL League One, which is a professional soccer league representing the third tier of U.S. Soccer.
Prior to their home debut on Sept. 8, the Super League team will play their inaugural match against Carolina Ascent FC on Sunday, Aug. 25. The club’s complete game schedule is listed on its website.
