LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A devastating accident early Tuesday morning has left the Lexington community in shock. The crash occurred around 7:38 a.m. on Boiling Springs Road at Longview Street, approximately eight miles south of the vibrant town of Lexington. It is a heartbreaking reminder of how suddenly life can change.
According to troopers with the SC Highway Patrol, a 2009 Chevy pickup was driving north on Boiling Springs Road when it collided with a 2019 Chevy sedan. The sedan was being driven by Nita Lynn Regino, a 52-year-old resident of Lexington, who was heading east on Longview Street at the time. Despite wearing her seatbelt, Regino tragically sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was the only passenger in that vehicle, was taken to Lexington Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Thankfully, that individual survived the incident, although details of their condition have not been released at this time.
As of now, the SC Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation into the accident. They are working to piece together the details of what happened that fateful morning. Investigators are likely examining road conditions, weather factors, and any potential witness statements to understand how the collision occurred and determine what could have been done to prevent it.
The news of Regino’s passing has left friends, family, and the broader Lexington community reeling. While it’s always challenging to cope with the loss of a loved one, losing someone in such a sudden and tragic way adds another layer of sadness. Many people in the community are expressing their condolences and offering support to Regino’s family as they navigate this difficult time.
Memories of Regino are pouring in as those who knew her recall her love for her family and friends. She will surely be missed by many who had the pleasure of knowing her warmth and kindness. Funerals and memorial services are often a time for healing, and it is clear that many are already planning to honor her memory in the days to come.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety. No one ever thinks that they will be in an accident, yet they can happen to anyone at any time. The SC Highway Patrol encourages everyone to remain vigilant on the road, be aware of your surroundings, and follow all traffic laws. Always remember to buckle up — it might just save your life or someone else’s.
As the investigation continues, we hope that answers will come to light so that this community can find some solace. Although the loss is profound, we must also remember to cherish each moment with those we love.
As Lexington grieves, our thoughts are with Nita Lynn Regino’s family, friends, and all who were impacted by this tragedy. Let’s take a moment to appreciate our loved ones and the fleeting nature of life. Stay safe out there, and let’s all work together to make our roads a safer place for everyone.
