Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation Awards Over $800,000 in Grants to South Carolina Nonprofits

Cayce, S.C. – Big Boost for Local Nonprofits!

Hey there, Cayce! Exciting news is brewing in our community that’s sure to warm your heart this holiday season. The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has spread some serious cheer by awarding over $800,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations right here in South Carolina! This generous donation is part of a whopping $2.4 million given to nonprofits across six states, including Virginia and Connecticut. Wow, talk about making a difference!

Giving Back to the Community

What’s even more fantastic is how these funds will be used to uplift our community. The grants focus on crucial areas such as human needs, environmental stewardship, education, and enhancing community vitality. You can bet these local groups are thrilled to have support in their ongoing efforts to help our neighbors, especially during these challenging times.

“Our local non-profits are always helping our neighbors and making our beautiful Palmetto State an even better place to proudly call home,” said Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina. And he couldn’t be more right! With the spirit of Thanksgiving and the true meaning of Christmas on our minds, it’s heartwarming to see such generosity flowing into our communities. It reminds us all that we are indeed our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers!

Local Heroes Receiving Support

Many deserving organizations around the state are set to benefit from this funding. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the recipients:

  • Family of Promise – Based in Aiken, they work tirelessly to offer eviction prevention and shelter diversion for families in need.
  • Homeless No More – Located in Columbia, this wonderful organization provides shelter and supportive services to at-risk and homeless families. A true lifesaver for many!
  • Lowcountry Land Trust Inc. – Situated in Charleston, they are behind the Beefield Community Park, which serves as a cherished greenspace celebrating native biodiversity and Gullah Geechee heritage.

Eligibility and Future Opportunities

The grants are available to organizations in areas where Dominion Energy serves electricity or natural gas or has business interests. This includes not only South Carolina but also parts of Virginia, northeastern North Carolina, West Virginia, and even Rhode Island. If you know an organization that could use a helping hand, take note! The next round of grants will accept applications from January 13 to February 24, 2025.
