Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Family Dispute Escalates into Violence

Lexington County deputies have apprehended a man named Timothy Reed Brewington, aged 48, following a family dispute that escalated into violence on Monday night. Brewington faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person convicted of certain offenses, as indicated in the arrest warrants.

According to Sheriff Jay Koon, the incident unfolded on Pond Branch Road, where Brewington intervened in a heated argument among family members while carrying a 9mm handgun. He engaged in a verbal exchange with one individual and at one point pointed the handgun at them and discharged a shot. Fortunately, the intended victim did not sustain any injuries during the altercation.

Sheriff Koon further explained that following the gunshot, Brewington retreated to his residence and later left the scene in his vehicle. Deputies were able to track him down while he was driving on South Lake Drive and took him into custody without any resistance.

Timothy Reed Brewington is currently detained at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting further legal proceedings related to the charges brought against him. The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the family dispute and subsequent shooting to gather additional details on the incident.
