Massachusetts Father Goes Missing on South Carolina Vacation

In a report released on August 21, 2024, a 60-year-old father from Massachusetts, named Stanley Kotowski, has been declared missing after being last sighted on a family vacation in South Carolina. The concerned authorities have labeled him as “missing and endangered”. The missing father was last seen in Hilton Head Island, around South Sea Pines Drive at around 10.30 a.m. on August 16, as per information provided by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Last Seen on Ring Camera Leaving Vacation Rental Barefoot

Stanley Kotowski had journeyed to South Carolina for a family vacation. He was last seen departing from the family’s vacation condominium without a mobile phone or other personal belongings, sparking alarm among family members. The last sighting of him was caught on a Ring doorbell camera installed at their rental premises– an image which was later shared by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). In the image, Stanley can be seen wearing a Coors Light T-shirt and shorts, but notably, sans shoes. Stanley is a 6-foot man, known to have brown hair and eyes.

“You’re not in trouble, Dad. We love you,” Son’s Plea

Zak Kotowski, Stanley’s son, put forward a heartfelt plea to his father stating, “We love him and we miss him. We just want him to come home…You’re not in trouble, Dad. We love you.” His family is extremely concerned, especially given that Stanley has recently been dealing with insomnia and anxiety but does not suffer from dementia. Stanley’s wife, Jackie Kotowski, has recounted that her husband “just walked out the door” of their vacation rental and was never seen again.

Mobilization of Search Resources

Multifaceted resources, including K9 units, helicopters, drones, boats, and foot patrols, have been mobilized in a bid to locate Stanley Kotowski. Searches have reportedly been conducted through residential and wooded areas in various parts within southern Beaufort County, confirmed the sheriff’s office. The local residents are asked to refrain from interfering with the search operations; however, they are being urged to contact authorities at 843-524-2777 if they acquire any information in relation to Stanley’s whereabouts.

Call to the Community:

Apart from requesting locals to check their properties for any signs of the missing man, the sheriff’s office is also seeking help from those with cameras in the area. The community has been asked to review their camera footage to ascertain whether Stanley Kotowski is sighted at any point. All this suggests an air of urgency and collective responsibility towards finding the missing Massachusetts father and once again uniting him with his anxious family.
