Massachusetts Man, Stanley Kotowski, Found Dead Under a House During Hilton Head Family Vacation in South Carolina

Sad Revelation: Lost Massachusett’s Man Found Dead on Hilton Head Family Vacation, South Carolina

Body Discovered “Beneath a Residence”

Authorities from South Carolina have revealed that they believe they have found the remains of the missing Massachusetts man, Stanley Kotowski, located “beneath a residence” in the Sea Pines area of Hilton Head, South Carolina. The news was shared around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, by the local authorities.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was drawn to investigate a residence “connected to suspicious activity” in Sea Pines. During the investigation, the body of a deceased male was found underneath the residence. Based on preliminary identification, the authorities believe the deceased male is the missing 60-year-old Stanley Kotowski of Massachusetts, who was reported missing on August 16.

Body Recovered From Underneath Home

The Sheriff’s office has confirmed that the body was recovered from beneath the home around 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon of the same day. Plans have been set in place for the county coroner to conduct an autopsy on Tuesday to confirm the cause and exact time of death.

Evidence of Vanishing From Video Footage

Ring doorbell footage released over the weekend showcased Stanley Kotowski exiting his family’s rental residence in South Carolina on the day of his disappearance. In the footage, he is seen wearing a Coors Light shirt and dark gray shorts, and is barefoot.

The footage, courtesy of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, displays a confused looking Kotowski walking out of the front door of the South Sea Pines Drive rental and proceed barefoot into the street on the day he vanished. He stops in the middle of the communal street, looks around, seemingly lost, before continuing on his journey, never to be seen alive again.

Community Search Efforts

The Hilton Head community organized a search for the missing man on Monday afternoon in collaboration with the local sheriff’s office. Kotowski’s family appealed to Hilton Head residents to contact authorities if they have any useful information that can assist in the ongoing investigation, specifically urging them to check their security camera footage for possible sightings of the man.

Family Concerns

According to his wife, Jackie, over the past month, Stanley Kotowski has been battling severe insomnia and escalating anxiety. The week before his disappearance, Stanley became extremely paranoid, under the impression that he was being pursued by people, including the authorities.

Continued Investigation

The authorities are determined to establish the conditions surrounding his vanishing and suspicious death. Efforts have been escalated including both land and water searches in and around the area of his disappearance. South Carolina’s law enforcement has appealed to the public for any potentially helpful information suggesting that anyone with data should contact the non-emergency dispatch line.
