The concert opens with Gabriela Ortiz’s “La Calaca,” a piece that delves into the rich traditions of the Day of the Dead festival. Following this, audiences will be treated to Richard Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1 in Eb Major, showcasing the remarkable talent of SC Phil Principal Horn, Kenneth Turner.
The highlight of the evening is Mozart’s timeless masterpiece, the Requiem, performed by four soloists and accompanied by 140 vocalists from the Columbia Choral Society and The Masterworks Choir from Florence, SC.
Prior to the concert, don’t miss the pre-concert wine tasting event in the Large Rehearsal Room at Koger, starting at 6 pm. Separate tickets are required for the wine tasting, where attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy wines from the lands of the featured composers and experience a performance by the SCP Youth Orchestra Cello Choir.
