New Barnes & Noble Bookstore Set to Open in Columbia on October 9th

Exciting News for Book Lovers in Columbia!

Hey there, Columbia! If you’re a fan of flipping through pages, getting lost in stories, or simply browsing the latest bestsellers, we have some thrilling news for you! A new Barnes & Noble bookstore is set to open its doors at Columbiana Centre this coming October 9th. Yes, mark your calendars because this is an event you definitely won’t want to miss!

Where to Find the New Store

The new Barnes & Noble will take over storefront No. 1222 in the bustling Columbiana Centre mall, which is located in the vibrant Harbison shopping district, northwest of downtown Columbia. It’s situated just south of the food court, making it a perfect pit stop for those looking to grab a good book while enjoying a bite to eat. You can find it close to popular shops like Pro Image Sports, Aldo, and Windsor, so there’s plenty to do and see in the area!

A Sneak Peek into the New Store

According to Janine Flanigan, the senior director of store planning and design at Barnes & Noble, this new location will cover about 5,800 square feet, providing a cozy yet spacious atmosphere for bookworms. The look and feel of the store will be similar to other new Barnes & Noble locations that have opened recently, featuring that familiar inviting aesthetic we all know and love.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the opening since Barnes & Noble started teasing the new location on social media last summer. They’ve even been sharing construction progress updates on Instagram, building excitement among local book lovers.

A Throwback to Harbison

Interestingly, this new venture marks a return for Barnes & Noble to the Harbison area. The bookstore previously had a location on Harbison Boulevard but closed in 2013. Fast forward to 2024, and they’re back, ready to bring stories to the community once again!

Recent Moves and Growth in Columbia

This new opening is part of a larger strategy by Barnes & Noble, as it also launched a new store at the Shoppes at Woodhill earlier this year after closing its old location at Richland Mall in Forest Acres. That relocation is already proving to be quite popular among locals, showing that the community’s love for books is vibrant and alive. With two new stores opening in the Columbia area this year, it seems like Barnes & Noble is making a strong comeback in the region!

The Harbison Area: A Shopping Hub

For those unfamiliar with the Harbison area, it’s one of Columbia’s key retail hubs, bustling with shops, restaurants, theaters, and more. It’s a vibrant spot that sees over 31,000 cars daily traveling down Harbison near the mall. It’s definitely shaping up to be the place to be as the new bookstore joins an array of shopping experiences.

Save the Date!

The opening of the new Barnes & Noble is an exciting development for all you book fans out there, offering a new haven to dive into your favorite novels and series. So, grab those calendars and circle October 9th. We can’t wait to gather in this wonderful new space, explore new titles, and indulge in that unique bookstore vibe! See you there!
