If you’re looking for the best spot to catch this awe-inspiring sight, head over to the northern side of the State House at the intersection of Gervais and Main Streets. Just a heads-up, though—road closures will begin at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, so be sure to plan your arrival accordingly. The 900 block of Main Street will be the first to close, followed by Pendleton and College Streets close to 10:30 or 11 p.m.
One of the great things about this year’s event is that the city is making it easier for attendees to participate by offering free parking for the fireworks show. Parking garage gates will be raised from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. on January 2, so you can enjoy the festivities without worrying about parking fees!
For families looking to usher in the New Year a bit earlier, Segra Park will host a Kid’s Early New Year Celebration from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. This fun event will include fireworks at 7:30 p.m.—perfect for the little ones who may not make it until midnight!
As if that wasn’t enough, the city will kick things off with The Drop on Main’s Block Party, beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until 1:30 a.m..
