Exciting News in Lexington: O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe is Reopening!

Lexington, get ready for some delicious news! After a brief hiatus, O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe is set to reopen its doors on Monday, October 14. Located right in the heart of downtown at 121 E. Main St., this beloved spot will once again be serving up your favorite breakfast and lunch dishes!

What to Expect

As we all know, this little cafe has been a go-to place for many, and during the past weeks, there was quite the buzz about its temporary closure. But the good news is, they’ve been busy making plans to come back stronger! The official announcement hit their Facebook page over the weekend, and it promised exciting things ahead. They will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., ensuring you have plenty of time to enjoy a delightful meal.

O’Hara’s is returning to its roots as a full-service coffee shop and cafe, focusing on specialty coffees, pastries, and an elevated breakfast and lunch menu. What’s on the menu, you ask? Well, they teased a mouthwatering breakfast plate featuring eggs, toast, bacon, and hash browns. Can you say yum?!

A Quick Note on Dessert

Now, if you’re a fan of their desserts, you might want to hold off on that craving for a little longer. O’Hara’s will not be offering desserts or their dessert bar during the initial reopening phase. However, they’ve hinted that these sweet treats could make a return in the “not-too-distant future”. So, keep your fingers crossed!

The Journey Back

Owner Matt O’Hara shared that the cafe’s leadership had been evaluating all options to ensure they could return as a viable hospitality business after deciding to close temporarily on September 22. Thankfully, those efforts have paid off, and they are ready to introduce a daily table service model for breakfast and lunch. Plus, many of the familiar faces you’ve come to love will be back serving you, as most of the staff from the last five years will remain.

Interestingly, Matt O’Hara is also the owner of O’Hara’s Public House, just a short walk away at 131 E. Main St.. That pub has remained open while the cafe was re-evaluating its options, meaning there’s still a place for you to grab a drink if you’ve missed it!

The Downtown Scene

O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe isn’t just a hotspot on its own; it’s part of the vibrant downtown Lexington scene. This area is flourishing with tasty eateries such as Keg Cowboy, Bodhi Thai Dining, and Bubba’s Biscuit, to name just a few. The restaurant scene is buzzing, with local favorites like Groucho’s Deli and Nicky’s Pizzeria contributing to the lively atmosphere.

And it’s not just about food. Downtown Lexington is home to unique shops like Craig Reagin Clothiers and The Kindred Boutique. The Icehouse Amphitheater continues to be a hub for events and entertainment, and there’s even a new TakoSushi location fresh on the scene at the corner of Main and Church streets.

Mark Your Calendar!

So, mark your calendars and get ready to head back to O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe! Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a cozy lunch, this wonderful cafe is set to offer you a delightful dining experience once again. Let’s support our local gems as they open their doors, spread the love for great food, and make our downtown twinkle even more.

See you there, Lexington friends!
