There’s an exciting buzz in Irmo, South Carolina, as the beloved Lexington Medical Center Irmo Okra Strut festival returns for its golden anniversary. Mark your calendars for September 27th and 28th because this two-day extravaganza at Moore Park is packed with everything you need for a fun-filled family outing – fantastic food, live music, plenty of rides, and, of course, okra!

People of all ages will find something to enjoy at the festival, which has become an integral part of the Irmo community over the last five decades. “It’s a family event,” says organizer Lauren Sherr, who’s enthusiastic about what this year’s festival has to offer. “We want everyone to come together and enjoy what Irmo has to offer.”

If you’re a fan of live music, you won’t want to miss the stellar lineup! On Friday night, get ready to sing your heart out to hits from Simply Shania, a tribute to the fabulous Shania Twain, followed by an energetic performance from Cowboy Mouth. Saturday’s treat features the winner of the local Irmo Battle of the Bands, Say Femme, kicking things off before the magnificent Absolute Queen, who will undoubtedly have you rocking out to Queen’s timeless classics.

Aside from the incredible music, there will be an array of amusement rides and countless vendors showcasing their unique products and delicious food. Plus, a free shuttle service will be running to and from the fair, so you can enjoy the festivities without the stress of finding a spot. Of course, if you prefer to park close to the action, there’s plenty of parking available right at Moore Park, so you’ll be just steps away from all the fun.

The festival kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 27th, and opens again on Saturday, September 28th, starting at 9 a.m.. Make your way to 7473 Church Street in Irmo to join the festivities.
