Columbia to Welcome State-of-the-Art Pickleball Facility, The Picklr, in January 2025

Exciting News for Pickleball Fans in Columbia!

Hey there, Columbia! If you’ve been hearing the buzz about pickleball lately, you’re not alone. That fun blend of tennis, badminton, and ping pong is taking off like never before, and it seems every community is catching the pickleball fever. Well, here in beautiful Columbia, we’re about to have our very own state-of-the-art pickleball facility that promises to elevate the game for all enthusiasts!

Get Ready for The Picklr

Introducing The Picklr, the world’s largest indoor pickleball franchiser is gearing up to open its first South Carolina location right here in our city. Although a grand opening date is still in the works, the word is that they’re aiming for January 2025. So mark your calendars and get excited!

What makes The Picklr so special? Well, I had the chance to hear from Jay Satori, the co-founder and chief branding officer of The Picklr, who told me a little about their vision for this new venue. Jay likened their brand to being the “Apple of pickleball”, focusing on creating an “elevated product” that stands apart from anything else currently out there. They want every aspect of the playing environment to be top-notch, paying meticulous attention to details!

A Unique Playing Experience

So, what does that “elevated” experience entail? For starters, The Picklr will feature a unique ‘black box interior’ design—think sleek black walls and ceilings that contrast beautifully with the vibrant colors of the pickleballs. This setup isn’t just for show; it’s specifically designed to enhance players’ visibility and make gameplay more enjoyable.

But wait, there’s more! Jay explained their concept of a ‘sound cloud’, which is a patent-pending sound absorption system that minimizes noise on the court by about 35 to 40 percent. This means players can concentrate on their game without getting distracted by excess noise. Sounds pretty fantastic, doesn’t it?

What’s in Store for Members?

The new Picklr facility is set to include 12 to 13 courts, a professional shop for all your gear needs, and will host regular Picklr leagues and tournaments that every pickleball enthusiast will want to be a part of. Plus, members can easily book their slots using the dedicated Picklr app. How neat is that?

If you’re considering joining this pickleball haven, here’s a quick look at their membership options:

  • Social Membership: $89/month – Unlimited open play and three tournaments monthly.
  • Regular Membership: $139/month – Everything in Social, plus league participation, tournament fees, paddle demos, guest passes, and clinics!
  • Pro Membership: $169/month – Includes all Regular benefits, plus access to exclusive features like Wingfield AI and extra court reservation times.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting, there’s a membership level tailored to fit your needs.

Stay Updated!

While the excitement builds for The Picklr’s grand opening, you can follow along with their progress by keeping an eye on their website. This is a golden opportunity for every pickleball fan in Columbia, so let’s embrace this growing trend together!

With the weather looking fairly nice in the upcoming days—partly cloudy skies and highs around 86 degrees—it sounds like the perfect chance to practice your pickleball skills outdoors while we wait for all the new indoor adventures coming our way. And don’t forget that those cooler nights may settle in around 68 degrees, perfect for a cozy evening!

So there you have it, Columbia! Let’s get ready to serve, smash, and play our way into a thrilling new era of pickleball!
