Daring Jailbreak Ends in Quick Capture of Escapee Following Wild Chase in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Quick Capture After Jailbreak

What a rollercoaster of events we’ve witnessed in South Carolina lately! Just a few days ago, a *group of four prisoners made a daring escape* from the Chesterfield County Detention Center. Fast forward to Thursday morning, and one of these escapees, a 23-year-old named **Emanuel Planco**, was caught in a surprising turn of events.

The Chase Begins

It all started around 2 a.m. when Richland County deputies received reports about someone possibly trying to break into cars in the area of Willow Oak Drive, which is conveniently located near Parklane Road and Highway 277. As deputies sped to the scene, a **keen-eyed K9 officer** spotted Planco breaking into a Kia parked on the street. When the officers arrived, Planco didn’t just sit still; he jumped into the stolen vehicle and took off, leading deputies on a wild chase.

With the help of stop sticks—those tire-deflating spikes used by police—deputies managed to halt Planco’s escape off Lone Drive. This is when the chase turned into a footrace. Planco jumped out of the car and bolted into a nearby woodline, but luck wasn’t on his side. A police dog named **K-9 Kiro** tracked him down, and soon after, the deputies were able to snatch him up.

A Hospital Visit

After his capture, Planco had to visit a hospital to address some dog bites, which is a bit of a *twist in this wild story*. Law enforcement made quite the discovery later: earlier that same night, Planco had attempted to steal a bicycle from a home on Willow Oak Drive. As luck would have it, the homeowner caught him on video and, in an effort to fend off the intruder, even fired a warning shot into the air. This timely intervention scared Planco away, but unfortunately not before he left his mark on several local cars.

Charges Piling Up

It turns out Planco’s escapades that night weren’t just limited to car theft; he allegedly broke into *three other vehicles*, snagging **credit cards, IDs, and even a PlayStation 4**. Authorities have now charged him with a slew of offenses, including failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand larceny, first-degree burglary, and financial transaction card theft. Quite the list!

What About the Others?

As for the three other escapees—**Anton Conway Bennett**, **Kyonne Marquise McLeod**, and **De’Shawn Malik Fox**—they’re still on the run. Official records reveal that both McLeod and Bennett were previously sentenced on charges related to vehicle break-ins, while Bennett also faced charges for possessing a stolen vehicle. Fox, it appears, has a history that includes assaults and inflicting bodily injuries.

Stay Alert!

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has taken over the investigation and is urging the public to remain vigilant. If you see any sign of these escapees, it’s best not to approach them but to call 911 immediately. Your safety, of course, comes first!

This incident shines a light on the challenges faced by law enforcement and communities when dealing with *criminal activities*. As the chase unfolds, let’s hope the remaining escapees are apprehended swiftly and safely.
