Born on November 16, 1932, to James Claude Pinion and Lurier Jordan Pinion in Salisbury, NC, Fred had a heart that radiated warmth and kindness. Many friends and family members will fondly remember him not only as a dedicated husband and father but also as a heroic figure who served in the United States Navy. Fred took to the seas as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class aboard the USS Boxer (CV-21) during the Korean War, where he diligently cared for fellow sailors and made lifelong memories.

Fred was a doting grandfather to 12 grandchildren, who all adored their grandfather. They ranged from Bradley Pinion and Kristen to Matthew Lucas, each carrying a piece of Fred’s joy and passion.
