COLUMBIA, S.C. – FIRST ALERT TRAFFIC: Shakespeare Road Closed as Crews Work on House Fire

The Columbia-Richland Fire Department has reported that a section of Shakespeare Road in Columbia, South Carolina, is currently closed to traffic due to ongoing work on a house fire. This closure affects the area between Roof Street and Baxter Street.

Fire Incident

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 10:50 a.m. local time and discovered black smoke emanating from the roof of a vacant residence on Shakespeare Road. Firefighters quickly worked to control the blaze, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire.

Cause Investigation

The Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire at the vacant home on Shakespeare Road. Determining the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident will be a priority for authorities in the coming hours.

Traffic Impact

Due to the ongoing response and containment efforts by emergency crews, Shakespeare Road remains closed to traffic between Roof Street and Baxter Street. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the affected area until further notice.
