South Carolina Ag + Art Tour Brings Unique Blend of Agriculture and Art to Lexington County

The South Carolina Ag + Art Tour Arrives in Lexington County

A Celebration of Agriculture and Art

The South Carolina Ag + Art Tour has made its much-anticipated stop in Lexington County, providing a delightful combination of agriculture and art for locals and visitors alike. According to its officially released information, the tour is a free, self-piloted journey of farms and markets that features local artisans at all locations. Since its inauguration in 2012, the tour has welcomed over 85,000 visitors, securing its spot as the nation’s largest free farm and art showcase.

UTOPIA FARM LLC

One of the highlights of the tour in Lexington County is Utopia Farm, LLC. This 54-acre family-owned and operated farm is a full-time agricultural endeavor for owners Ray and Pat Hall. Primarily focused on vegetable cultivation, the farm also breeds Boar goats, raises Angus cows and maintains a flock of chickens and ducks. Also, the farm house, two campsites serving for unwinding amongst nature, and a two-mile walking trail for campers are part of the farm’s appeal. As part of the Ag + Art Tour, the farm hosted several vendors selling homemade goods such as jams, jelly, honey, crafts and art.

Hollow Creek Distillery

Another fascinating stop in the county is Hollow Creek Distillery, a family-founded business steeped in tradition and home to internationally awarded spirits. During the Ag + Art Tour, visitors could purchase a variety of Hollow Creek Distillery merchandise and explore the red barn where the distilled spirits are produced. As part of the event, the distillery also housed several artists and crafters showcasing their unique creations.

Lexington County Museum

Preserving the rich historical artifacts and structures used in the region before 1865, the Lexington County Museum is a treasure trove for history buffs and lovers of antiquities alike. During the Ag + Art Tour, volunteers from the museum facilitated a variety of engaging activities across the site, including the Lexington Master Gardeners, Lexington Soil and Water Conservation District, and Indigo tie-dying demonstrations. The museum visit offered attendees a glimpse into the life and architecture of the 1800s.

Embracing Local Legacy

Farmers, artisans, visitors, and locals came together in a unique celebration of heritage, arts, and local produce during the Ag + Art Tour in Lexington County. It represented a seamless melding of exposures – art, agriculture, history, and local craft – all contributing to the significance of local living and sustainable practices, giving all attendees a newfound appreciation for locally sourced goods and artistic endeavors.

Commitment to Community and Art

The South Carolina Ag + Art Tour continues to be a beacon of community engagement and celebration of local talent and enterprise. Every iteration offers a unique blend of agriculture and artistry, providing an enriching experience for both locals and visitors. The extraordinary blend of agriculture, arts, and historic preservation on display during this year’s Tour served as a vivid reminder of South Carolina’s rich heritage and dynamic contemporary scene. Offering a wealth of insights about sustainable living, the Tour promises to continue inspiring and educating the public in its future editions.
