If you live in Lexington County, there’s some news this week that you’ll want to hear! The South Carolina Department of Education has just released its annual report cards for schools across the state, and it’s created quite a buzz. These report cards, which focus on the 2023-24 school year, evaluate every school based on a 100-point scale, giving us a clear idea of how each one stacks up.
Each school received a designation based on how well they performed. Of all the schools in Lexington County, 15 were awarded an excellent rating, 21 were marked as good, 31 were considered average, while 11 fell into the below average category, and three were labeled as unsatisfactory. That’s quite an achievement for those excellent-rated schools!
Here’s a breakdown of which local schools received the honors:
Moving on to categories like good and average, schools in Lexington 1 and 2 are trailing behind with some notable ones. It’s great to see so many schools making strides and being recognized for their hard work!
As for the entire state of South Carolina, the numbers are pretty remarkable! Across all schools, 230 institutions (that’s 18.3%) received an excellent rating. Not to be outdone, 316 schools (25.2%) found themselves in the good category, while a significant 477 (38%) were rated as average. However, not all the news is great; 186 schools (14.9%) were marked below average, and 47 schools (3.7%) were noted as unsatisfactory.
These results are more than just numbers; they reflect the hard work and dedication of teachers, staff, and students alike. Schools are constantly adapting and looking for new ways to improve, and feedback from report cards like these are crucial for guiding that progress. With so many schools striving for excellence, it seems clear that the educational landscape in South Carolina is vibrantly dynamic.
As we cheer on all the schools recognized this week, let’s look forward to seeing how they will continue to improve and innovate in the years to come. Whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or simply a supporter of education, it’s exciting to witness this growth.
