Lake Murray, SC – April 1, 2024 – Capital City/Lake Murray Country (CCLMC) is proud to unveil the first member of the Southeastern BBQ Showdown’s (SEBBQSD) esteemed judging panel. Mark Henry, known as “The World’s Strongest Man,” will be lending his expertise and charisma as a judge at the inaugural event June 14-15 at Segra Park.
Standing at an imposing 6 feet 4 inches and boasting a storied wrestling career, Mark Henry’s involvement marks an electrifying milestone for the SEBBQSD. Hailing from Silsbee, Texas, Mark Henry is a force to be reckoned with. In 1996, he took home a gold medal at the Summer Olympics for weightlifting, and later that year he made his WWE debut. Since then, he has dominated the wrestling scene with his impressive strength and athleticism. But there’s more to Mark than just muscles; he’s also a stand-up comedian who keeps audiences entertained with his quick wit and humor.
In addition to his accomplishments, Mark is also passionate about fitness and healthy living. Through his Strong Kids program, he’s on a mission to inspire the next generation to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

The Southeastern BBQ Showdown will take place on June 14 & 15, 2024, from 4 to 10:00 p.m. It will be held at Segra Park located at 1640 Freed Street, Columbia, S.C. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Band of Oz on Friday and the multi-Grammy® Award-Winning Band Alabama on Saturday.
