HERE NEWS: Tartan Day South: Celebrating Celtic Heritage in the Midlands

Irmo, South Carolina – Tartan Day South is back to honor the rich Celtic culture and heritage in the Midlands region of South Carolina. From April 4th to 7th, experience the traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and England through a series of events held across Cayce, West Columbia, and Lexington. This annual celebration is not only a showcase of cultural pride but also a fundraiser for the nonprofit River Alliance, dedicated to preserving and connecting people to the rivers of the area.

Thursday, April 4

Tartan Day South Kick-Off Party

Location: Steel Hands Brewing, 2350 Foreman Street, Cayce SC

Event Starts: 7:00 PM

Free Admission

Presented by 102.3 Columbia’s Classic Rock

Friday, April 5

Celtic Concert

Location: Icehouse Amphitheater, 107 West Main Street, Lexington SC

Featuring: Eireann’s Call, Tuatha Dea, and SYR

An evening of Celtic music, demonstrations, and artistic exhibitions

Bring a stadium cushion or blanket (no coolers allowed)

Saturday, April 6

Tartan Day South Highland Games & Celtic Festival

Location: Historic Columbia Speedway, 2001 Charleston Highway, Cayce SC

Gates Open: 8:30 AM

Kirkin’ of the Tartans

Discover the history behind the Kirkin’ of the Tartans and join Scots and enthusiasts for a celebration featuring prayer, scripture, bagpipes, and the singing of Amazing Grace. Witness the display of tartans and a public parade of the clans, commemorating Highlander patriotism, faithfulness, and independence.
