Columbia is buzzing with excitement as a new green space and community hub is on the horizon! That’s right, folks! The BullStreet District has just unveiled plans for _The Lawn_, a wonderful 1-acre gathering space designed to bring people together. Nestled right in the heart of the bustling area between the WestLawn office building and the Bennet at BullStreet apartment complex, this project is set to elevate the community vibe.
So, what can you expect from The Lawn? Imagine a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter, relaxation, and yummy food! The highlight will be a _3,750-square-foot artificial turf play area_, complete with tiered seating for those afternoon picnics or evening concerts. Speaking of concerts, there’s going to be a spacious event stage where local talent can shine, alongside bistro tables and a delightful café. To make it even cozier, _Catenary lights_ will twinkle overhead, creating that perfect ambiance for gathering with family and friends. And don’t worry about missing a beat! Speakers will be set up in the planters around the lawn to keep the good vibes rolling!
Now here’s the cherry on top: a brand new Coastal Crust Wood-fired Pizza restaurant will be joining this community oasis. Located in the historic Williams Building, this will be Coastal Crust’s very first spot in Columbia! If you’re new to this pizza joint, they currently delight taste buds in cities like Greenville, Travelers Rest, and Mount Pleasant.
Robert Hughes, the CEO of the development firm behind BullStreet, expressed his joy about having Coastal Crust join the project, stating, _“We were looking for just the right restaurant that reflects what The Lawn is all about, and we were thrilled to get Coastal Crust to do just that.”_ The restaurant is known for its custom-built, _900-plus degree wood-fired ovens_, creating pizzas that come with a distinct smoky flavor thanks to the use of kiln-dried oak wood. Yum!
The team behind The Lawn sees it as a central hotspot for _“dining, recreation, and cultural connection.”_ Brian Piesner, president of Coastal Crust, shared his excitement, saying, _“We create an elevated casual experience for everyone, particularly for families, and we cannot wait to get started.”_ Who wouldn’t be looking forward to indulging in a slice of pizza while enjoying some outdoor fun?
Mark your calendars, because The Lawn is expected to open its doors in the _first half of 2025_. While we don’t have a specific date for Coastal Crust yet, we can expect it to follow soon after. Officials are promising that the new restaurant will beautifully blend the historic charm of the Williams Building with a modern flair. It’s what you call the best of both worlds!
The city of Columbia, in collaboration with Greenville’s Hughes Development, has been working tirelessly to revitalize the former State Mental Hospital site along Bull Street. With over _$100 million_ committed to infrastructure improvements, this project is only the beginning! The area is already buzzing with hundreds of apartments, great eateries like Starbucks and Iron Hill Brewery, plus the local favorite Columbia Fireflies baseball team. But wait, there’s more—exciting developments are in full gear, including a _new $300 million medical school campus_ from the University of South Carolina!
So, whether you’re looking for a relaxing spot to hang out, munch on delicious pizza, or just soak up the community vibe, The Lawn at BullStreet is shaping up to be the place to be! Columbia is truly embracing its growth, and we can’t wait to see what else is in store. Stay tuned for more updates, as this vibrant addition promises to be a cherished cornerstone of our community!
