Tribute Bands Rock Icehouse Amphitheatre All Summer Long

Lexington, June 8, 2024 – The Icehouse Amphitheatre is ready to bring music enthusiasts a summer seasoned with classic rock vibes. Honoring legendary artists and bands, a diverse range of tribute acts will be taking the stage throughout the sunniest season of the year, establishing a rhythm of high-intensity performances and nostalgic tunes.

The Best of Everything Kickstart the Series

Last week, the summer tribute series had a promising start with The Best of Everything, a tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Formed by members of the renowned local bands Tokyo Joe and The Root Doctors, they evidently ensured that the experience was more than just Petty’s greatest hits. Their meticulous effort in retracing Petty’s career down to his iconic top hat and Rickenbacker guitar rendered an environment far more intimate and personal than those conducted in grander venues in the past. Hits like “Free Fallin'”, “Don’t Come Around Here (No More)”, “American Girl”, among others, were greatly appreciated by an enthusiastic crowd.

Lineup of Tribute Acts

The tribute to Petty & The Heartbreakers was merely a precursor for a lineup of tribute performances to classic rock icons at the Icehouse Amphitheatre, featuring an interesting mix of local and national talent. On the roster next is the tribute band Interstellar Echoes to Pink Floyd on June 14. The Atlanta-based band has grown increasingly popular due to their dedication to reproducing the Pink Floyd concert experience right down to the laser light show.

Singer/bassist Jim Gorman’s ability to imitate Floyd vocalists Roger Waters and David Gilmour is eerily accurate. For lovers of guitar solos, Chris Hinson has faithfully studied and even mastered Gilmour’s style to such an extent that performances of tracks like “Comfortably Numb” and “Time” feel astonishingly authentic.

On July 11, ZOSO promises to deliver the Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience. Known for their ability to mirror the intensity and charisma of the original band, ZOSO will be gracing the stage in full costume, led by a soundalike of Robert Plant and a guitarist emulating Jimmy Page’s signature swagger.

August 16 will see classic rock fans served with a double dose as Schoolboy Johnny, a local Bad Company tribute act, and Rev On: The Foreigner Experience take on the big stage. Expect a grand night of classic hits like “Feels Like The First Time,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Hot Blooded,” and “Shooting Star.”

Finale with a Bang

To wrap up the Tribute Band Summer at Icehouse, a performance by the electrifying Taylor Swift act, Taylor Nation, is scheduled. Perfect for a family night out, the act promises to thrill the crowd with their youthful energy and catchy tunes. Taking the stage after them will be Rocketman – A Tribute To Sir Elton John. With members of Tokyo Joe impersonating the music icon and dazzling the crowd with stunning costumes and state-of-the-art lighting, the tribute series promises to sign out with a sensational finale.

Suffice it to say, classic rock fans in and around Lexington have an exciting summer ahead. Time and again, tribute bands have proven their capacity to elicit nostalgia, revive timeless rock anthems, and kindle appreciation for the original acts, ensuring these classic tunes are cemented in the annals of rock history.
