Two Arrested and One Sought in Connection with 2022 Lexington County Homicide

In a major breakthrough, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department along with U.S. Marshals have successfully arrested a man and a woman in connection with a murder case dating back to 2022. Law enforcement officers remain in pursuit of an additional suspect.

The Arrested and The Wanted

Chendric Jawan Brown, a 25-year-old male, and London Ja’Kia Oliver, a 26-year-old female, were arrested on Thursday afternoon. According to arrest warrants, Brown is facing charges of murder and conspiracy, while Oliver has been charged with conspiracy and accessory before the fact.

Still at large is Ziyon Ta’hib McKnight, aged 24, for whom arrest warrants for murder and conspiracy have been issued. Anyone with information about his location is strongly encouraged to contact Lexington County Sheriff’s Department or their local law enforcement agency.

The 2022 Homicide Incident

In September 2022, the South Congaree Police Department issued a notification about a car found on Edmund Highway. The car was occupied by two individuals who appeared to have experienced a shooting incident.

The Lexington County Sheriff, Jay Koon, reports that one of the passengers was rushed to a local hospital, treated for injuries and subsequently released. Tragically, the other passenger, 22-year-old Harold Lord Peak III, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher confirmed the cause of death.

The Investigation and Charges

The investigative team, led by Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, pieced together the sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting. Their findings suggest that London Ja’Kia Oliver informed Brown and McKnight of the victims’ location, setting a trap. The suspects then lay in wait, launching their lethal attack as the victims drove past.

Following the arrests of Brown and Oliver, who are currently held at the Lexington County Detention Center without bond, law enforcement officials are diligently searching for McKnight. “The investigation is still ongoing, and we ask the public for their assistance in locating McKnight,” said Sheriff Koon.

While the arrests mark a significant milestone in the 2022 homicide case, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information about McKnight’s whereabouts to come forward and communicate with them immediately. They stressed the importance of not engaging with McKnight but calling 911 or the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department directly to ensure their safety and allow trained law enforcement officials to handle the situation.
