With just weeks away from its highly-anticipated debut in the USL Super League, Lexington Sporting Club appears to be geared up, ready to inject a refreshing bout of excitement into the sporting culture of Lexington, Kentucky.
Lexington SC is set to face Tampa Bay Sun FC on Sunday, September 8, at 4 p.m. at the state-of-the-art Lexington SC Stadium. This marks a significant milestone for women’s professional soccer in the commonwealth as the USL Super League conforms to the highest level of U.S. Soccer’s Division One standards, offering players a platform to enhance their skills and compete at an elite level.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, CEO of Lexington Sporting Club, Kim Shelton, said, “This is a thrilling moment for our community and for women’s sports as a whole.”
The club has encouraged fans to secure their spots early by purchasing tickets that can be acquired online or by calling their helpline. Echoing Shelton’s excitement, Mike Dickey, the head coach of the Super League team, said, “Our team has been working tirelessly to prepare for this season, and we can’t wait to showcase their talent and determination on the field.”
While the new stadium construction nears completion, Lexington SC continues to build its performance center and training fields. They also compete in USL League One, further showcasing their commitment to high-level soccer in the U.S.
Before its home debut against Tampa Bay Sun FC, the Super League team will begin play on Sunday, August 25, against Carolina Ascent FC.
