West Columbia, SC: Exciting Veteran’s Day Events Await!

As we gear up for Veteran’s Day on November 11, West Columbia and the surrounding Lexington County area are buzzing with activities to honor our brave veterans! This year, several local schools are rolling out the red carpet with special programs and celebrations that invite veterans and the community to come together and show their gratitude.

Many of our local schools are throwing their doors wide open to veterans in the days leading up to Veteran’s Day. Get ready to enjoy an array of student performances, parades, and heartfelt tributes that will be taking place across the district. Here’s a quick rundown of the events you won’t want to miss!

Wednesday, November 6

  • Riverbank Elementary: A special Veterans Day assembly featuring performances by students! The schedule is as follows: 4K-2nd grades at 8 a.m. and 3rd-5th grades at 9 a.m. Location: 160 Cougar Drive, West Columbia.

Friday, November 8

  • Busbee Creative Arts Academy: Expect an engaging Veterans Day program with performances by various student groups, including chorus, band, and theatre. It kicks off at 9:15 a.m. at 501 Bulldog Blvd, Cayce.
  • Fulmer Middle School: Join in for some special performances, delicious doughnuts, and presents from the JROTC at 9:30 a.m. Sure to be a treat! Located at 1614 Walterboro Street, West Columbia.
  • Northside Middle School: Breakfast for veterans from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at 157 Cougar Drive, West Columbia.
  • Wood Elementary School: Students will take part in a parade and a program featuring the Airport High School JROTC at 8:30 a.m. Don’t miss this uplifting event! Located at 737 Pine Ridge Drive, West Columbia.

Monday, November 11

  • Fort Jackson’s 282D Army Band: Everyone is invited to a free concert at the Lexington Two Performing Arts Center starting at 6 p.m. Expect a fabulous evening with musical performances by local students as well! The venue is located at 3205 Platt Springs Road, Springdale.
  • Congaree Elementary School: Join the Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m., featuring inspiring student performances and a breakfast provided by the PTO for veterans. Address: 1221 Ramblin Road, West Columbia.
  • Brookland-Cayce High School: Anticipate an uplifting program at 1 p.m., featuring the Honor Choir and a special address from Retired 1st Sgt. Alexander Baker. Veterans will receive a keepsake, and it’s all happening at 1300 State Street, Cayce.
  • Springdale Elementary School: Participate in the assembly and parade at 1 p.m. on the school playground. It’s sure to be a fun family-friendly event! Located at 361 Wattling Road, Springdale.
  • Saluda River Academy for the Arts: Don’t miss their two assemblies at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., where veterans are invited to read to students throughout the school day! Address: 1520 Duke Street, West Columbia.

Tuesday, November 12

  • Airport High School: Round off the celebrations with an exciting program starting at 2 p.m., featuring tributes to soldiers alongside performances by students. Located at 1315 Boston Road, West Columbia.
