Lexington Hosts Women’s Health Empowerment Luncheon Focused on Domestic Violence Awareness

Lexington Community Gathers for Women’s Health Empowerment Luncheon

Getting a group of passionate individuals together for a great cause is always something exciting, and Lexington is gearing up for just that! On October 12, 2024, the Lexington Municipal Conference Center will transform into a hub of empowerment and awareness with the Still Standing women’s health luncheon happening from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Addressing Domestic Violence and More

This year’s event focuses on an important issue that often lurks in the shadows: Domestic Violence. We’re lucky to have Naida Rutherford, the Richland County Coroner, as our keynote speaker, who will guide us through the conversation alongside a panel of knowledgeable voices. Joining her will be Dr. Delores Dacosta from the SC Commission for Minority Affairs, Ashley Olayinka, CEO of The Hive Community Circle, and Stephanie Jacobs, a Victim Advocate. Together, they will shed light on the theme: “Face the Facts: Domestic Violence Is Beyond Skin Deep.”

In previous years, the luncheon has tackled various health challenges, including Breast Cancer, HIV/AIDS, and Mental Health. This year, however, the focus on domestic violence is particularly poignant. It is a cause that resonates throughout our communities, and it’s time we face these harsh realities together.

A Day to Remember

Guests can look forward to a wonderful afternoon filled with inspiration and insight. The lavish space at the municipal conference center offers free parking and stunning views of Virginia Hylton Park, ensuring a delightful backdrop for discussions on health and awareness. The atmosphere will be both welcoming and informative, perfect for fostering community connections.

And let’s not forget our beloved tradition—the Shoe Strut competition! This fun and lively event allows attendees to showcase their fabulous footwear while encouraging women to “stand taller, feel stronger, and walk longer.” It’s all about empowerment, confidence, and, of course, a fabulous pair of shoes!

Supporting a Noble Cause

To make this event even more meaningful, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Coroners Campus, an initiative dedicated to promoting awareness of forensic science. This not only enhances the educational aspect of the event but also helps in understanding the critical roles played by various fields in addressing domestic violence and other health concerns.

Join Us!

The Ivy Heritage Foundation of Irmo, Inc. is at the helm of organizing this enriching experience, and they are committed to pushing the conversation around women’s health and empowerment to new heights. For anyone who wants to be part of this enlightening event, you can get in touch with them at publicrelations@ivyheritageofirmo.org for more information.

This luncheon is more than just a meal; it’s a chance to come together as a community to uplift and support one another. It’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and empower each other to tackle the tough challenges that affect so many in our lives. Let’s make a difference—let’s *face the facts* and work together towards a brighter, more understanding future.

Mark your calendars for October 12, 2024! We look forward to seeing you there in Lexington, where we aim to build a stronger, more informed community—together!
